For the past few months I have been a loyal fan of the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. It does what it claims to do. Stays on for hours and hours (6 hours, they claim) and is smudge free. There have been times when I have slept with it on and I have woken up with perfectly kohled eyes. It does not glide on very smoothly though as it is very matte and not very soft, but that doesnt bother me much.
Now talking about the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. Is it better than the Maybelline Colossal? Yes. It is softer and glossier. Goes on much smoother. I do not, however, see much difference in terms of darkness. Eyeconic is only slightly more black.
Here is a comparison:
Feature | Maybelline Colossal Kajal | Lakme Eyeconic Kajal |
Smudge free | Yes | Yes |
Long lasting | Yes(the company claims 6 hours) | Yes(the company claims 10 hours) |
Intense color | Yes | Yes |
Waterproof | Yes | Yes |
Texture | Matte | Smoother and creamier than Colossal |
Price | Rs. 150 (I heard it is going to be increased to 175) | Rs. 199 |
Availability | Easy | Very difficult! It is out of stock everywhere. |
For that last reason, I am sticking to Colossal. I like both, so it’s not a problem. If any of you find the Lakme one anywhere, ping me! I am almost running out of the one I have.
The only con about the two products is that they can be difficult to remove. Cleanser or baby oil works for me.
Tip: Always powder your eyelids and under eye area before the application of kajal to make it last longer and to avoid raccoon eyes, especially if you sweat a lot and have oily eyelids.

Both are amazing kajals. Choose whichever and you should be happy.
Until next time, happy dressing up!
