A new year is a sign that you should make fresh beginnings. Why not consider getting fresher, better skin in 2016? Here are 6 resolutions you should be making for perfect skin this year:
Clean your phone:
Your phone comes in contact with all kinds of surfaces all day and then you put it next to your cheek for hours. Not good, no? Time to start using disinfectant wipes and swipe that screen clean.
Wash your face before sleeping:
Skin rejuvenates itself while you sleep, and if it is clogged with makeup and dirt, it cannot breathe. Promise yourself that you will wash your face before sleeping. In the absence of makeup remover, use baby oil/baby shampoo. Pour a tiny bit on a cotton pad and wipe off. For the drunk/lazy nights, keep makeup removal wipes on your dresser and use them before you crash. Recommendation: Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover.
Start a night regimen:
It is time to start using a hydrating night cream/serum/overnight mask that’ll repair and hydrate your skin while you sleep. After you have cleansed your skin, you need to feed it too! Make your night time ritual your “me time”. It’ll not only be a step towards great skin, it’ll relax you. Recommendation: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Overnight Mask.
Wash your makeup brushes:
Your makeup brushes accumulate a whopping amount of bacteria and breakout causing oils. Wash them regularly, so that you are not transferring bacteria from your face to your makeup kits and vice versa. Check out this post to learn how to clean your makeup brushes.
I know, I know. You have read this a 100 times before. Consider this a reminder, ok? Drink more water! If you don’t like the taste of water (like me), make infused water with anything you like! Mint, cucumber, ginger, apples, berries, cinnamon et al. (Want the recipes? Just ask in the comments below!) Also drink more green tea to add to the fluid intake.
A lot of people I know think that sunscreen is too sticky, greasy etc. Not anymore! These days there are tons of lightweight sunscreens out there. Try: Neutrogena dry touch.
I hope you follow these easy, simple steps. Here’s to glowing skin in 2016!
One color, many expressions. The power of a red lipstick, the amorous symbol of a red heart, the sanguine shades of blood. And also the color of celebration. The color of Christmas. The color of the promise of a new beginning. A bright and shiny new year.
This Christmas I decided to stop traffic in this red and gold number. I bought this dress for my birthday party last year and hadn’t worn it ever since. What better time to make a statement in gold and red than the holidays, am I right?
Styled it with simple gold accessories. Shot on the streets of Versova on Christmas early morning with my lovely Amrita.
Enjoy the pictures! Hope you had a beautiful Christmas. And oh yes, have a Happy New Year! 🙂
Dress: What’s Up. Gold heels: From a boutique. Earrings: Custom. Hand harness: Koovs.
We all want everything in a jiffy. Including beauty! So here are some tips and tricks to make your life easier. I have used all these tricks some or the other time in my daily life to save time, money and effort. Hope they help you too! Here we go…
Ah, the incredible Maybelline Colossal is now available in color. You guys probably already know that I really like the Maybelline Colossal Kajal in black. (Read “Kajal Wars“; our most popular post yet!). I had sky high expectations from this new turquoise kohl. Did it live up? Keep reading to find out!
Aqua eyes are a big trend for Spring-Summer 2014. It was used a lot on the runway, be it in the form of pastel blue shadow or sapphire eyeliner. I was very excited to see that the Maybelline liner that we are talking about today closely resembles the sapphire.
What I like about the product
Let’s begin with my first impression of the product. The packaging is sleek and modern, and good for travel. The cap closes nice and snug. The color of the liner? Gorgeous. It is a beautiful turquoise with tiny amounts of shimmer. I feel it will be flattering on all kinds of skin tones.
It looks stunning with lightly bronzed cheeks keeping the rest of the makeup simple. Such a perfect look for summer! The best thing about such colored kohls is that they can make your eyes look glamorous and you don’t have to spend a lot of time doing up your eyes with a gazillion eye shadows! And at INR 249, the kohl is nicely priced.
As far as the longevity of wear is concerned, I was very impressed! It lasted for a good 6 to 7 hour period despite the brutal Bombay heat. I can’t comment on the 12 hour claim though because I didn’t wear it for that long, but I’d say even 6-7 hours is good enough! It means the color will last you all day at work. Wait, did I just say wear a turquoise eye liner to work? Why not! Everyone wears color at night or at parties. Spice up your day at work with some color this summer! Switch it up, girl! 😀
Here I am showing you two different looks. Depending on how dramatic you want your look to be, you can use this only on your lower lash line, upper lash line, or create a cat eye look. I tried the current trend of reverse cat eyes with it and I like how it turned out! What do you think?
I also wore it as an eye shadow recently. Here is a picture of that from my instagram :
What I don’t like about the product
It breaks too easily 😦 The tip of mine broke after 2 uses. Maybe because the texture is too creamy and the weather is too hot. I’ll try storing this in the fridge. Let’s see what happens. I also don’t like that they have not mentioned the ingredients anywhere on the packaging. They should work on that.
In a nutshell, I am really impressed and hope Maybelline launches more colors. I can picture a delightful green and a royal blue!
