Maybelline Rebel Bouquet Lipsticks Swatch and Review

As you probably know, Maybelline recently launched the Rebel Bouquet collection as part of their Spring Summer 2015 line. One of the major attractions in the collection is their range of Rebel Bouquet lipsticks. I tried out two shades: Reb02 and Reb04. Here’s my review.

The lipsticks in the collection are moist, soft and the colors are vibrant pastels. That explains the name. Bouquet because pastel and Rebel because poppy, bright pastels.

On first application, the lipsticks glide on very smoothly. However, I was slightly disappointed by the pigmentation. I thought these would be highly pigmented. Nevertheless, you can achieve the desired strength of the color with multiple swipes. One swipe would give you a sheer wash of color while three would give a nice and opaque finish.

While both colors are lovely, I am really in love with Reb04. I think it really brightens up my face. It’ll be great for most complexions. Also, I think they could have given interesting names to the shades.

I was pretty impressed with the staying power. Since these lipsticks are not super matte, I was not expecting them to be long lasting. But they surprised me. They last a good 3-4 hours on the lips, not counting meals of course. However, because of the creamy texture, they do tend to bleed so I would suggest using a lip liner underneath to counter that. All in all, the lipsticks are pretty good and for the price you pay (Rs 450 for 3.9 gm), they’re definitely worth it.

Have you tried them out? Let me know your thoughts!
