There is no dearth of talent in our country and sometimes more so in the rural bits. Aham Bhumika, an NGO based in Bhopal, has trained more than 30 rural women and girls in hand embroidery in the past two years. Currently, they are being taught to master Gond Art embroidery, which is a tribal art form of central India. They’re making beautiful tote bags, cushion covers and more which you can now order
The NGO works in two villages, Borda and Mahabadia, located on the outskirts of Bhopal. Besides the education of rural children, Aham Bhumika has started this livelihood initiative wherein these immensely talented women make some really beautiful cushion covers, tote bags and zipper pouches. The bags especially look so fun! You can place an order by writing to them on Facebook, twitter or ahambhumika@gmail.com.
