It’s that time of the year again where you get to show off your quirky colorful side and dare-to-wear-it trends. This year’s Spring-Summer 2013 runway streamed in pops of neon, bronze-y tanned skin, pastel hues, powerful eye make-up, peachy cheeks. Choose your favorite trend for this season and go conquer the world, girl. We make it easier for you to rock Summer of 2013 trends. Here is how:
This one’s certainly my favorite trend for Summer 2013. Bold lips are best paired with zero or minimal face and eye make-up to keep things from getting sloppy(yikes). While orange and coral neon shades are easier to carry off, fuchsia barbie pink lips which are quite a thing this Summer is a bit tricky to get right. Experiment your statement lip, use a lip brush if you are new at it and choose the right color for your skin tone. We also recommend applying concealer over and around your lips before you go ahead with your lip color to create a good canvas for the color to build on and maximum impact.
Rainbow Eyes
If neon lips aren’t quite your thing: think bright eyes. Yellow? Orange? Why not? If you dare to; give your smokey eyes a break this season and experiment with not so obvious choice for eye colors. This will liven up eyes and give it that added punch for your next barbecue party or Sunday brunch. While the main focus is your eyes make sure you cover your under-eye dark circles with a concealer, dab on a little eye primer on your lids, blend your choice of eye shadow carefully on your eye-lids with a neutral shade such as black, brown or white, curl your lashes and apply a single coat of mascara. Keep the rest of your look simple, use some lip balm or a little nude or peach lip gloss. If you want to keep the look understated try using the color with a liner brush just on your lower or upper lash line or the corner of your eye lids like you would normally do with kohl. Whatever you do experiment your look a couple of times before your final go to avoid any last minute disappointment.
Pastel Nails
Bid your red nail polish goodbye and make way for candy inspired pastel nails for your next mani or pedi. Go all out, have fun. That’s what Summers are about. Blue skies, sultry bronze skin, fresh strawberry ice-cream and pastel nails. Try pastel nail art- polka dot nails, stripped nail art or even a pastel french manicure. Remember that pastel shades often make your skin look a shade darker than it is.
Barely There Make-up
Go bare or go home seems to be a mantra for make-up artists this season. Rightly so, summers can be particularly harsh on your skin and its best to leave out heavy make-up for later. Use a foundation with SPF or blend your sunscreen with foundation, dab on your favorite lip balm preferably with SPF too, cover your under-eye dark circles with concealer and you are ready to rock and roll.
Envy with Emerald Green
Pantone color of the year- Emerald Green isn’t just restricted to accessories or clothing. Think out of the box with emerald green make-up. While emerald green smokey eyes is quite a deal; if it still isn’t your thing go for emerald nails or kohl. Dior Bird of Paradise Collection for Spring 2013 is solely dedicated to this trend. For pocket friendly options try Colorbar and Maybelline with stunning emerald eye-shadows, nail colors and kohl sticks to choose from.
Soft as a Peach
Sun-kissed cheeks, simple make-up and a great way to amp up your everyday 9-5 make-up. Peach makeup is back and here to stay. Peach is partly warm toned and partly cool which makes it ideal for everyone. A hint of peach blush is the perfect way to add color to your cheeks while peach toned lip gloss never goes out of fashion. There are a dozen options to choose from for every budget. MAC’s Peaches blush is a all time favorite while NYX Antwerp lipcream is the perfect peach lip color for the summers.
What’s your favorite to go make-up for the warmer months? We hope to see new trends and women confidently sporting them this season. Whatever you choose, be sure to apply sunscreen before stepping out, drink a lot of water, eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, make the most out of happy hours, learn a new sport, throw a pool party and don’t forget to have fun the time of your life while you are at it.
