I recently won a contest organised by Maybelline India on twitter with the hashtag #DoesntLastLongEnough. I actually played for a very cute diary, but got a 14hr lipstick with it. I was quite happy to receive this lipstick as I heard a lot about it.
Curious to find out if I liked it? Read on!
The hashtag was #doesn’tlastlongenough which was a bit of a tagline for the lipsticks. This is what Maybelline has to say about these lipsticks:
”LIP COLOR THAT STAYS ON FOR 14 LONG HOURS
Why You’ll Love It
- 14 hour Lipstick with an ultra-lightweight formula:
- Stays fresh, light, and comfortable
- Super rich color that lasts for 14 hours
- Pigments are enveloped in a longwearing system
- 16 long wearing shades”
I was quite happy to receive these as I had heard a lot about these lipsticks.
I can say, I am all smiles ever since my brother couriered my prizes to the Netherlands this month.. Thank you once again, bhaiya! =)
Packaging
On with the review, I will to start with the packaging of the lipstick. It is bullet shaped with a white cap and coloured bottom. This unique packaging makes the colour distinguishable. The shade name is printed on the bottom of the lipstick. It definitely doesn’t look cheap at all.
Here are swatches in daylight:
Texture
Perpetual Pony is a very cute, matte, baby pink/purplish colour. It glides on the lips smoothly without unnecessary stretching, which I often notice with matte lipsticks. It’s very easy on the lips without feeling a thick layer of lipstick. The lipstick is not transferable, which is a big yay.
The finish is a bit dry in my opinion (it settles a bit in the fine lines), but it isn’t dehydrating at all. I like the light vanilla fragrance, by the way.
Pigmentation
I love the pigment of this lipstick. One swipe on your lips and you’re ready to go! I can’t comment on the 14 hour lasting factor as I don’t wear lipsticks for 14 hours, but I can vouch for the fact this lipstick stayed on for 6-7 hours without even fading a bit (lunch/dinner included!).
Price
Rs. 525 for 3.3 grams.
As you might have noticed, this lipstick doesn’t really suit my skin tone. I have a medium skin with a warm undertone. I knew it would look weird on me, I purely reviewed it for the quality of the product. I think I will surely take a look at these in the stores over here and buy one.

Also, fun fact this pic: I swatched these for the pics and tried to get (read: rub with 3 different cleansers) it off, but I still have pink lipstick marks on my arm. Pro or con? That’s for you to decide!
Yays:
– Pigmentation is super.
– Glides on the lips easily.
– Isn’t transferable.
– Stays on for a LONG time.
– Will look very pretty and cute on fair skin.
Nays:
– It settles a bit in the fine lines.
– The lipstick touches the silver cover while applying.
– Not everyone would like the vanilla scent.
Re-buy factor?
Totally! Sadly this wasn’t really my colour, but then this surely made me want to buy other colours which will suit my skin tone.
